VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 33 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

This role is responsible for the Community-led Research Project, a 12-month research project focused on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Victoria through research. The project aims to identify Community-led research priorities and strengthen the research capabilities of Aboriginal and Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs).

The Senior Project Lead will co-ordinate the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the research. They will facilitate a number of engagements for the project and ensure that Community voices are centred throughout. They will work collaboratively with ACCOs, building and maintaining respectful relationships, contributing to a broader self-determined research agenda across Victoria.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience as a Project Lead. You will have sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and strong communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic projects, ideally in a research or community development context.
  • Tertiary qualification and/or relevant professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.
