Our Water Team at the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF), is recruiting a Senior Research Consultant. The consultant would work on innovative research projects in the field of sustainable urban water issues and systems, both in Australia and internationally. The role could be either full time or part time.

About the role

We are looking for a team member who is interested in specialising in sustainable urban water systems, particularly relating to applied research on technical, policy, planning and regulatory approaches. Your expertise will ideally include some or all of: integrated water cycle planning and management, recycling and decentralised water and sanitation options, water efficiency and demand side management, economic/options analysis, and stakeholder and community engagement.

Applicants with prior experience in government, community, business, university or any other sectors are welcome to apply. Prior experience working with or for water utilities and/or government will be a strong advantage.

Your qualitative and quantitative research skills should be complemented by experience working with and facilitating inputs from diverse stakeholders, including skills such as workshop design and facilitation. You should also have a working understanding of the Australian water sector and potentially exposure to other country contexts.

Your track record of successful project management will enable you to play an integral part in a dynamic research team. You will have a proven ability to work in a commercial, team-based environment to deliver high quality project-based research. Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write for different relevant audiences, is required for this position.

  • Have knowledge and experience in sustainable water systems i.e. a relevant degree and/or >3 years work experience

Remuneration (base salary, pro-rata for part time)

Senior Research Consultant (Level 7) $90,062 to $99,631

The level of appointment is dependent upon skills, experience and competencies.
