Our Energy Team at the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF), is recruiting a Research Consultant/Senior Research Consultant. The consultant would work on exciting research projects within the following three themes: customer energy innovations; energy fairness and jobs; and 100% renewables. The role could be either full time or part time.

The Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) undertakes game-changing sustainability research. Established for more than 20 years, ISF works with thought leaders in government, industry and community organisations, in Australia and internationally, to create change towards sustainable futures. Sustainability research is a key focus area supporting UTS’s ambition to deliver global impact as a leading university of technology.

About the role

Are you passionate about supporting the energy transition? We are looking for researchers who can take on deep analysis, write high-impact reports and prepare funding proposals for future work. We need researchers who can manage projects well and contribute to strategic planning for the energy team and Institute.

The Researcher (Level 6/7) is responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough and detailed analytical research including qualitative (e.g. literature reviews, interviews, surveys) and basic quantitative (Excel at a minimum) research
  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals for external funding opportunities
  • Providing project management support to other researchers at ISF, and
  • Participating in strategic planning for ISF and the Energy Team.

The Researcher must have the ability to select and use a range of appropriate research methods that can be applied to conduct sound data analysis and synthesis. The ability to use one or more of the following tools would be considered an advantage:

  • Python
  • MatLab
  • C++
  • Spatial (GIS) systems
  • Electricity network modelling tools
  • Statistical packages (e.g. ‘r’)

Remuneration

Research Consultant (Level 6) $84,091 to $91,049 p.a.

Senior Research Consultant (Level 7) $92,791 to $102,650 p.a.

The university offers 17% employer provided superannuation and salary packaging opportunities. This appointment will be on a 2 year fixed term, full time basis. Part time appointments would also be considered.
