About the opportunity

The Student Wellbeing team is in a period of exciting transformation in order to align with the University’s strategic plan, developed to deliver an outstanding student experience. In light of this, we are seeking an experienced Preventative Education Specialist who will be responsible for the implementation, oversight, assessment, and development of a range of campus wellbeing events, training programs and activities. The Preventative Education Specialist contributes to the portfolio campus safety training programs targeting student and staff involvement and engagement, including but not limited to the implementation of Consent Matters, Modern Slavery Awareness, Bystander Awareness and Responding with Compassion programs.

Under the direction of the Manager, Safer Communities, the Preventative Education Specialist will deliver project plans and supporting documentation for the effective delivery of preventative education programs, including project/program scope, purpose, timelines, activities to be delivered, materials to be developed, accountabilities and key milestones. You will also support the development of partnerships with and between relevant agencies and stakeholders to assist students in accessing support.

• a tertiary qualification in an applicable field such as social work, health promotion, public health, or other behavioural health sciences
• evidence of experience and knowledge of best practice and methods to prevent gender-based violence and promote gender equity
• experience in designing, delivering and evaluating training programs
• project management skills in a health education context, including demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate project outcomes
• knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory obligations affecting students with mental health and wellbeing issues
• strong relationship management skills to be able to support a diversified stakeholder base
