LikeMind program run by Uniting provides free and confidential integrated services for adults experiencing mental health concerns, as well as their families and carers. LikeMind aims to establish partnerships across sectors and brings together existing community services to one accessible and engaging community space to develop an integrated service hub of co-located help and support. The program uses a consumer-driven recovery model to work together with consumers to address their mental health needs.

Role Overview:

The Senior Clinician forms part of the multidisciplinary team and provides onsite clinical leadership for the team.

Responsibilities of the Senior Clinician include but are not limited to:

  • Providing mentorship and clinical consultation to clinicians within the multidisciplinary team
  • Provision of mental health assessments, including completion of mental state examination, risk assessment, case formulations and an initial treatment plan
  • Working collaboratively with young people, consumers, their families/significant others and relevant service systems to respond appropriately to their mental health needs
  • Participation in triaging/intake of new referrals to the service; establishing what mental health concerns are present, identifying risk factors, current supports available and negotiation of appropriate plans for each person referred to the service

Essential Criteria:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker), and full membership with AHPRA or the appropriate professional body:
  • Proven expertise in the application of evidence-based clinical practice within the mental health field. A minimum of 3-years clinical experience providing mental health treatment to young people and/or consumers.
  • Substantial experience in mental health care (providing both therapeutic and case management care), including completion of mental health and bio-psycho-social assessments, crisis interventions and short term psychosocial treatment for young people and consumers experiencing mental health difficulties and their families.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership in clinical supervision, education, training, ongoing professional development and any student clinical placements, orientation and mentoring roles. Ability to contribute to clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team and on a one to one basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and to contribute to a culture of hope, optimism and recovery for young people, consumers and their families/significant others
  • Ability to maintain and influence a team culture and performance that is based on hope, optimism and a recovery framework for young people
