About the Opportunity

This is a full-time fixed term contract working 35 hours/ week until June 2023.

We are currently seeking a supportive and adaptable Support Worker to join our Newpin team in Ingleburn.

As a Support worker your role will be to provide day-to-day support to the Newpin coordinator and whole team. This role requires motivated, sensitive, and nurturing professionals who are passionate to work collaboratively within our team and to develop safe relationships that supports children and their parents. The families attending our program will have likely experienced trauma and the children often are living outside their family. Experience working with children and families that have experienced trauma is desirable but not essential.

Who are we?

The Newpin - New Parent and Infant Network program specialises in the development of emotional maturity and well-being of parents who have children placed in Out of Home Care due to child protection concerns. Newpin promotes the skills that parents need to manage practical as well as emotional challenges in the parenting of their child/ren; as well as increasing the elements of safety within the family.  

What you need to succeed:

A minimum Diploma in a relevant field (welfare/ community services) and/or relevant work experiences with children and families. Or willingness to undertake Diploma studies.

  • Understanding of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families when required.
  • Understanding of the impact of trauma
  • Understanding of culturally safe and sensitive service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with colleagues (internal and external).
  • Medium level proficiency in MS Office (particularly Outlook, MS Word and Excel).
  • Current driver’s license and ability to transport families in organisational vehicles. 
  • Comply with NSW Working with Children Check and National Police History Check requirements. 
  • A demonstrated commitment to social change and contributing to an organisation that advocates for the most disadvantaged.
  • Understanding of EEO, OH&S and cultural issues.
