About the role:

  • Full-time 12 month contract position located in Oran Park NSW
  • Base annual rate of $82,622 to $90,226 negotiable based on experience & qualifications

We are looking for a compassionate and driven Family Worker to join our Family Connect & Support (FCS) team in Southwestern Sydney. If you are passionate about strengthening families, preventing crises before they escalate, and creating meaningful change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people, this could be the opportunity you’ve been searching for.

As a Family Worker, you’ll work directly with children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability or challenges that place them at risk. Through early intervention and strengths-based support, you’ll help families navigate difficult circumstances, build resilience and access the right supports at the right time.

You’ll walk alongside families facing complex challenges, helping them feel less alone and more equipped to move forward with confidence.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing short-term casework and tailored family support
  • Building trusting relationships through home visits, outreach and community-based support
  • Developing meaningful case plans that recognise family strengths and goals
  • Connecting families with local services and supports to reduce risk and prevent escalation
  • Advocating for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
  • Working collaboratively with schools, community organisations and referral partners to achieve positive outcomes
  • With a caseload of approx. 20 families, you’ll deliver practical, person-centred support that genuinely changes lives.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work or related field, or relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability
  • Knowledge of child protection and a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing
  • Confidence managing short-term casework and coordinating supports for families with complex needs
  • Experience using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches
  • A current NSW Driver Licence and NSW Working With Children Check
