About the role:

  • Full-time permanent position located in Oran Park NSW
  • Base annual rate of $82,622 to $90,226 negotiable based on experience & qualifications  
  • 12% super plus access to generous NFP salary packaging options

About the opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate Aboriginal Family Worker to join our Family Connect & Support (FCS) team in Southwest Sydney and play a meaningful role in walking alongside Aboriginal children, young people and families during times of challenge.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support Aboriginal children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability through culturally safe and responsive casework
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families using flexible engagement approaches including home visits, outreach and community-based support
  • Develop strengths-based case plans that prioritise child safety, family wellbeing and connection to community
  • Coordinate supports and services to help families access the right assistance when they need it most
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, referral agencies and community partners to ensure families experience seamless support
  • Act as a cultural resource within the broader Family Connect & Support team to strengthen culturally responsive practice
  • Maintain strong connections with local Aboriginal communities and services to create meaningful pathways of support

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • This is a First Nations Identified Position – you need to be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity (this is an identified role under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act)
  • A qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work or related field, or relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience working with Aboriginal children, young people and families in a culturally responsive and strengths-based way
  • Knowledge of child protection and a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing
  • Confidence managing short-term casework and coordinating supports for families with complex needs
  • Established relationships and understanding of local Aboriginal community networks and structures
  • A current NSW Driver Licence and NSW Working With Children Check
