Job Description

Be there when it matters most

A young person walks in unsure. Guarded. Quiet.

They’re not looking for a clinical process, they’re looking for someone who gets it.
Someone who knows how to listen without judgement.
Someone who can hold the space, assess the risk, and gently guide what comes next.

At headspace Gawler, our clinicians are often that person.

The first connection.

The steady presence.

The moment where things begin to shift.

This is where you come in

You bring more than qualifications — you bring presence.

You know how to read between the lines.

You understand that trust is earned in seconds and built over time.

You’re just as comfortable navigating complexity as you are building rapport.

You don’t just deliver interventions — you connect, assess, respond and walk alongside young people as they find their way forward.

And you know when to lean on your team — because the best outcomes happen when clinical thinking is shared, challenged and supported.

A day in this role might feel like…

  • A young person opening up — because you made it feel safe to do so
  • Turning a complex presentation into a clear, evidence-based plan
  • Supporting a family to better understand what’s happening — and what comes next
  • Identifying risk early, responding confidently, and creating meaningful safety strategies
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure no young person falls through the cracks

This is purpose-driven, early intervention work at a time in someone’s life where the right support can change everything.

Desired Skills and Experience

What matters most (non‑negotiable)

This is a clinically accredited role, and to be considered you must currently hold recognised Mental Health Accreditation and full professional registration.

This includes:

  • Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists (with AHPRA or relevant registration)
  • Mental Health Nurses or Occupational Therapists with mental health endorsement/training

This requirement is essential due to the nature of clinical service delivery.

Please do not apply if…

  • You do not hold current mental health accreditation or professional registration
  • You are unable to meet the clinical and regulatory requirements of delivering therapeutic interventions
  • You are seeking a non-clinical, support or entry-level role

We say this with respect — we want to honour your time as much as ours and ensure the right clinicians’ step into this important work.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience in mental health and risk assessments, including suicide risk
  • Confidence delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • The ability to engage authentically with young people, families and support networks
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care and shared clinical thinking
  • A commitment to culturally safe, inclusive, person-centred practice

What we offer

We know this work asks a lot of you, so we’re committed to giving back in meaningful ways, supporting both your professional growth and personal wellbeing:

  • Competitive remuneration aligned to your experience and impact
  • 12% superannuation plus salary packaging up to $15,900
  • Additional $2,650 meal entertainment allowance to maximise your take-home pay
  • Access to further salary packaging benefits where eligible (e.g. relocation, remote benefits, parking)
  • 5 days paid wellness leave (pro-rata) to prioritise your wellbeing
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave after 12 months of service
  • Annual leave loading for added support when you take a break

Because to support others well, you need to be supported too.

About us

At Youturn, we exist to support young people in their time of need, helping them live healthier, more meaningful lives.

Our culture is grounded in:

  • Listening to understand
  • Building genuine, trusting relationships
  • Creating safe, inclusive, judgement-free spaces

We believe how we show up matters; for each other, and for every young person who walks through our doors.
