Unions Tasmania is the peak body for trade unions in Tasmania. For over 140 years, we have been giving a voice to working Tasmanians and their families. We represent approximately 50,000 union members, across the private and public sector, in workplaces big and small.

We are seeking a skilled facilitator with experience in adult education, gender equity, workplace culture change or related fields, to design and implement materials associated with the next stage of the Gender Equity Works project.

Funded through the Australian Government's ‘Advancing Gender Equality in Gender Segregated Industries’ program, this exciting statewide initiative works with unions, employers and workers to improve workplace flexibility, inclusion, safety, dignity and opportunities for women in a range of industries.

You will develop and deliver innovative training programs that support workers, employers and unions to create safer, more inclusive workplaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and facilitate training programs on Gender Equity issues
  • Develop learning resources and toolkits to support participating workers and employers
  • Support workplace action planning
  • Contribute to forums and networking events
  • Work closely with participating unions and workplaces

You will have:

  • A commitment to union values and a passion for worker’s rights
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating training adult programs
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across the union movement and with employers and workers
  • Excellent planning, reporting and communication skills
  • Understanding of workplace gender equity, workplace relations or social change initiatives
  • Capacity to exercise judgment and discretion within a politically sensitive environment
  • Capacity to innovate and lead the delivery of creative and engaging learning activities
