The Role

As the Philanthropy Manager at UNICEF Australia, you will report to the Head of Philanthropy and play a pivotal role in our Fundraising team. You will be responsible for managing the relationship between UNICEF Australia and our major donors, trusts and foundations. In particular this role will have a focus on UNICEF supporters in Victoria. You will manage a valuable portfolio of major donors, develop a strategy for Victoria based prospects and will cultivate these relationships to grow our income and increase our impact for children. While we are based in Pyrmont, Sydney, we are open to Melbourne based candidates with strong networks. Key Responsibilities

  • Major donor relationship management – Nurture and grow relationships to increase income from UNICEF Australia’s current major donor portfolio through exceptional relationship management and stewarding
  • Major donor relationship building - Develop a strategy to build the prospect pipeline in Victoria in particular
  • Engagement - Develop and deliver events, appeals, marketing and communications activities that provide opportunities to identify new prospects and more deeply engage with current major donors.
  • Support the Head of Philanthropy in the ongoing development of the Philanthropy strategy
  • Continually educate yourself on UNICEF programs in Australia and around the world in order to present any and all of these to prospects and donorsOversee the grant making opportunities with Trusts and Foundations and ensure submissions are effectively written and timely,
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Philanthropy and the wider fundraising team
  • Be able to commit to regular travel (dependent on your location being Vic or NSW) and occasional out of hours work when required.

Selection Criteria

  1. Appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  2. 3+ years of related experience in Philanthropy/Major Donor/Trust & Foundation Fundraising at Management level
  3. Exceptional and persuasive written and verbal communications skills
  4. Exceptional organisation skills
  5. Excellent interpersonal skill with a natural ability to build relationships
  6. Knowledge of professional fundraising standards, practice and regulatory compliance issues
  7. A dynamic, self-motivated ‘people person’.
  8. A genuine interest in working in the international aid and development sector
