What we are looking for

UNICEF Australia is seeking an International Programs Manager – Climate, reporting to Head of International Programs to oversee a portfolio of Priority Programs in climate change. Collaborating closely with UNICEF Country Offices and Regional Office, this role accelerates climate change programming and engages with funding opportunities. Ensuring compliance with accreditations and Code of Conduct, the manager facilitates program implementation, reporting, and internal collaboration for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Your day will include

  • Cultivate positive relationships with UNICEF partner Country Office staff and gain a comprehensive understanding of the country program and context, particularly in climate change
  • Collaborate with UNICEF Country Offices and the East-Asia and Pacific Regional Office to pinpoint and foster new climate change programming opportunities
  • Monitor, manage, and report risks at both partner and program levels effectively.
  • Enforce all pertinent policies, procedures, and systems to uphold a high-quality, child rights-focused program
  • Actively contribute to policy reviews to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide climate change technical support to fundraising and communications staff, addressing inquiries and meeting donor requirements in collaboration with the International Programs Communications Specialist

We would like you to have the following skills and experience

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in International Development / Climate Change or other relevant area of study, or equivalent working experience
  • A minimum 4 years’ experience in international development program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, preferably with field experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international development standards, policies, procedures, and reporting protocols, coupled with proficient climate change technical expertise
  • Proven track record in providing capacity building and program support, including managing distance relationships effectively
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities for effective representation and advocacy, including adeptness in preparing and delivering reports and submissions
  • Demonstrated success in budget appraisal and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with child safeguarding standards
