Oasis Hunter is a Salvation Army youth service based in Hamilton which has been supporting young people in the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Hunter regions for over 25 years. We have a vibrant and dynamic team that are passionate about putting young people first and supporting their journey to independence.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be providing psychological interventions to young people aged 12-25 whose lives have been impacted by drugs or alcohol, and also experience challenges with their mental health. You will mainly be working one-on-one with clients and their families, providing specialist therapeutic support in the form of brief interventions and ongoing support.

We're looking for someone who is wanting to make a difference in the lives of young people, as a Psychologist. This is a permanent part-time, 22.8 hours per week position, primarily based at our centre in Hamilton. You will be required to travel around the region at times.

You will successfully

  • Conduct assessment, case formulation and treatment for clients who are experiencing addiction and mental health issues
  • Implement best-practice screening and assessment procedures to inform appropriate treatment interventions
  • Exercise independent judgement in the application and adaptation of psychological principles, methods, and techniques
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team and provide team-based support as required
  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of referral and support options available for clients
  • Co-locate at other Salvation Army expressions around the region as required

You will have

  • Bachelor level degree in psychology, or higher
  • Current general or provisional registration with AHPRA
  • Experience working in the areas of addiction, or alcohol & other drugs
  • Current NSW drivers' licence
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police check
