ABOUT THE ROLE

Maintain gardens, lawns, watering systems, paths and driveways of Townsville Recovery Services in line with Centre requirements and Salvation Army policy and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide maintenance of buildings and facilities of Townsville Recovery Services in line with Centre requirements and Salvation Army policy and procedures.
• Support gardening training programs and assist in ensuring the programme continues to be relevant to the needs of the participants.
• Oversee clients assigned to garden duties making sure WHS practices are adhered to.
• Maintain gardening equipment and assist with general property maintenance and cleaning as required.
• Maintain and develop personal knowledge in area of expertise and meets core values and behaviours of The Salvation Army

This position is also responsible for delivering training as part of the Life skills program.

Reporting to the Administration Team Leader this position is located at Rowes Bay.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent full time position, 38 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Community Services stream, Level 3.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

• Demonstrated sound knowledge across all key areas of competence in Landscape Gardening and General Maintenance
• Sound knowledge in the use of Gardening equipment and maintenance
• Time management skills with regard to planning ahead for equipment requirements and work arrangements.
• An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing substance use disorders, mental ill health and other disabilities (desirable)
• Qualifications in Horticulture or equivalent (desirable)
• A current QLD Drivers Licence
• Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
