We currently provide a chaplaincy service at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC), providing court users with pastoral care and practical support.

The NJC is one-stop-justice-centre comprising a court, support services, and specialists in justice innovation, communication, and education. NJC is Australia's first community justice centre, a member of a worldwide network of around 50 such centres, and an International Mentor Court for community justice.

The focus of NJC is:

  • Preventing and reducing criminal and other harmful behaviour in our community
  • Increasing our community's confidence in, and access to, the justice system
  • Strengthening the community justice model and facilitating the transfer of its practices to other courts and communities.

THE ROLE

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide spiritual and emotional support, guidance and practical assistance to people moving through the justice system, support to their families and extended families and help with re-connection to a community of choice.
  • Work closely with the specialised teams within the NJC.

This position is based at The Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood.

HOURS AND AWARD/SALARY LEVEL

This is a part time position, 3 days per week (22.8 hours) ongoing.

This position is an Award Free position with a salary of up to $56,775 gross p.a. excluding super (pro rata for 3 days).

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Diploma of chaplaincy to have been completed or to be studied at earliest opportunity after appointment in role
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and/or theological studies desirable
  • Previous or current Chaplain experience or relevant experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge and understanding of the context, culture, principles, philosophies, policies and practices, regulations and legislation relevant to the judicial and correctional system
  • Unconditional love, regardless of circumstances
  • Active support of others the provision of spiritual care and encouragement
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence is essential
  • Proof of your eligibility to Work in Australia
