About the role

We are currently looking for casual Disability/Adventure Support Workers to join our team who has a passion for working with people with a disability (primarily autism and mental health), youth at risk and disadvantaged demographics. We are looking to increase the pool of support workers (as per the requirements listed below) to call upon for support work shifts in the following areas:

  • Northern Rivers (including Lismore)
  • Gold Coast Region
  • Brisbane

Applicants must be willing to work a minimum of 12 hours per week and up to 38 hours per week; and must be available to work weekends. We are seeking applicants who live on the Gold Coast, Northern New South Wales, Brisbane and Lismore.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring to Tribes participants to support them to reach their NDIS and/or other goals
  • Preparedness for all 1:1 mentoring sessions such as having activity ideas and relevant resources
  • Participation and collaboration on Tribes group activities
  • Contribution to risk management and reduction whilst providing 1:1 or group supports

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will need to have exceptional interpersonal skills in order to provide mentoring support to individuals with a disability, youth at risk and people with a mental illness and disadvantaged demographics. You must act with integrity at all times and to uphold Tribes Code of Conduct; be reliable and consistent; and be able to assess and manage risk.

Essential:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with people with disabilities (specifically autism and mental illness), youth at risk or marginalised demographics
  • Highly developed practical skills working with vulnerable individuals
  • Relevant life experience that can be utilised for participant development
  • Ability to assess and work within company risk guidelines

Highly Desirable

  • Qualifications in Disability, Youth Work, Community Services, Education or related field; or qualifications in the wellbeing and fitness sectors
  • Experience in facilitating outdoor education – highly desirable

The applicant must also have the following qualification or be willing to acquire them:

  • Current Driver's license
  • Current QLD Paid Blue Card or ability to obtain one
  • National Police Check, less than 6 mths old
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Rights to work in Australia
