about the opportunity

We are a community based preschool with an excellent reputation in the community that provides high quality educational program for children between 3-5 years of age. The preschool is open between 8am-3:30pm from Monday to Tuesday and 9:00am to 3:00pm Wednesday to Friday and operates in line with public school terms.

As a 2IC you will assist the preschool director with managing the daily operations of the Centre in line with legislative requirements, organisation expectations, policies and procedures.

As an Educational Leader, you must have the skills to lead and mentor other educators, motivating them to excel as you deliver care and educational programs. Your role will be to assist with ensuring the Centre provides the highest quality care and education for children aged between 3-5 years, build strong relationships with families and be a role model of best practice to our team of dedicated Educators.

Your new role will entail:

  • Assist with managing the daily operations of the Centre in line with legislative requirements, Company expectations, policies and procedures.
  • Develop positive and open professional relationships with families, children and staff.
  • Provide strong leadership, support and guidance to all educators.
  • Ensure our Centre provides high quality education, development and care to the children.
  • Assist with managing the financial requirements of the Centre in line with budget guidelines.
  • Assist with Roster Management and attendances.
  • Assist with ensuring the Centre is compliant with all Centre policies, State Legislation and National Quality Standards.
  • Assist with ensuring all Health & Safety standards are maintained in accordance with legislation and Company standards.
  • Keep regularly informed about the NQF, NQS and the current National Regulations plus current thinking, research and practice while implementing the EYLF.
  • Assist with the implementation of new initiatives to encourage increased occupancy.

You will have the following Qualifications and personal experience: 

  • A Bachelor of Education/Teaching in Early Childhood or Diploma in Children’s Services.
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Framework i.e. National Regulations, National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Must have up to date Working with Children Check, First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis qualifications and Child Protection Training.
  • Educational Leader experience and/or have been in a leadership position (2 years or more).
  • Be double-vaccinated against COVID-19.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in leading and coordinating a staff team with strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan, support and work with children with additional needs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to design and develop learning environments to reflect the different learning dispositions, skill/developmental levels and interest of children.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to team work and open communication with staff members.
  • Commitment to inclusive early childhood practices.
  • Understanding of the issues related to children with disabilities, disadvantaged families including Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families and families of a non-English speaking background.
  • A strong Christian faith and involvement in church and be personally committed to the Christian aims and ethos of the preschool.
