WHO ARE WE

The Top Blokes Foundation is dedicated to improving the mental health and social well-being of Australian males aged 10 - 24 years. Our mentoring and leadership programs foster inclusion, build resilience and empower young males to realise their full potential and become positive contributors to the community. Our peer-led programs are evidence-based and continually reviewed to remain fresh and relevant to the lives of adolescent boys helping them to navigate this fast paced, social and technology world.

WHY WE EXIST?

  • Suicide is the leading cause of death in young men and they are 5 times more likely to suicide then young women.
  • Young men are 3.5 times more likely to die from an accident than young woman.
  • One punch assaults took 90 lives between 2000 and 2013.
  • On average young boys start drinking alcohol at age 15.7 yrs.
  • The fastest growing consumers of pornography are boys aged 12-17 yrs.
  • 1 in 4 teenagers have experienced an unwanted sexual encounter.
  • 75% of mental health problems occur before the age of 25 years.

OUR PROGRAMS

Top Blokes Mentoring for Primary School: An eight-week mentoring program for boys aged 10-13 years who require positive male role modelling and introduction to key social education.

Top Blokes Mentoring for High Schools: Interactive program for boys aged 14-17 that tackles difficult social issues over two school terms, helping vulnerable young men to develop positive decision-making skills, improve their emotional resilience and mental health whilst developing their personal qualities of integrity and self-respect.

Top Blokes Mentoring for Community: An eight-week mentoring program for young men aged 18-24 that addresses the barriers in gaining and retaining employment by developing their soft skills, self- esteem and providing community engagement opportunities.

Workshops: Education Workshops for parents, teachers and the wider community to raise awareness of the issues facing young men and how we can partner to deliver more positive outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is responsible for the on the ground business development, coordination and delivery of the Top Blokes Mentoring Programs in our Western Sydney region.

The responsibilities held by the Program Coordinator will include: 

  • Developing networks and building a client base within Western Sydney
  • Exploring and securing new avenues or relationships to create program opportunities
  • Program delivery and face to face mentoring in our programs within the Western Sydney region
  • Supporting the Illawarra Team in program coordination (maternity leave cover only)
  • Team management and development
