The Business

Tonic is a virtual CFO and strategic consultancy working with Social Enterprise and Profit with Purpose organisations. We help our clients establish strong business foundations to maximise their social impact and ensure ongoing financial sustainability. We are engaged by a number of organisations in the social enterprise and not for profit space, across strategy, project management, virtual CFO and other operational and financial services.

Our clients have focus areas across the social and environmental spectrum with a focus on doing good.

We currently have an opening for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Management Accountant.

The Role  - Senior Bookkeeper / Management Accountant

Reporting to Tonic’s Director and CFO, Emma, the role will focus on month end processes and the preparation of monthly reporting across a variety of clients (approx. 6 to 8) as well as some weekly and fortnightly bookkeeping and compliance work.

As an organisation we work across many enterprises as their “virtual CFO” drawing on our own experience in management and accounting to streamline processes and communication then utilising the latest software packages to prepare and analyse monthly reporting packs and advice for our clients. We act less as traditional external accountant and more as an extension of the client’s team and become a trusted part of their ongoing operations.

Key skills include:

  • Minimum 5+ years senior bookkeeping and compliance experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to manage workloads autonomously
  • A fast learner with a confident approach to navigating new systems and software
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to ask questions and clarify details
  • A real interest in what quality data can do for an organisation and its ability to make good decisions

Location & Hours

The role is 0.6 FTE with an opportunity to work flexibly. Days and times can be agreed during the interview process with consideration given to existing commitments, we do however require consistent focus in the critical first weeks of the month to efficiently turn around our clients reporting.

The core work location will be at our office in Footscray, with an ability to work from home for a portion of the week.
