Threadlet

Join a fast growing startup while helping businesses reduce their energy costs and emissions!

ABOUT US

Threadlet is how businesses will reach net zero while increasing their bottom line. Our software helps businesses manage all their electricity, gas and solar in one place.

We’ve started with retail energy and have big plans to roll out products to help businesses reach net-zero energy costs and net-zero emissions.

We manage our client’s energy, so we're looking for a driven team member to join our fast-growing team building cool products. If you're someone who likes the idea of rapid learning and rapid growth while doing good, you've come to the right place.

WHY THREADLET?

Work with impact and purpose. We’re helping businesses across Australia (and soon the world) put their energy to work. Expect collaboration and interesting problems to solve.

Work with great people. Work alongside a supportive, diverse and inclusive team. You’ll have the trust, freedom and support to experiment, think 10x and not be afraid of failure but to learn from it - and have fun together along the way.

Work that challenges you. We’re growing quickly, and you will too. We want to help you grow with us. You’ll have numerous opportunities to embrace discomfort, grow and learn as Threadlet expands and scales globally. If you don’t think you tick all the boxes from day one that’s ok! We want to hear from you if you’re excited about growing.

Work that works for you. We’re a flexible, remote-friendly place. We prioritise our team’s mental health & overall wellbeing, with a no-questions-asked approach to mental health days.

Benefits & Perks. We have a great employee share option plan for our early employees. We’re also a flexible, remote-friendly work environment where people can enjoy a mix of WFH and in-office collaboration

Diversity & Inclusion. We're committed to growing and empowering an inclusive community. That's why we actively encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. If you require accessibility assistance at any stage of the process, please let us know.

We’re also committed to investing in the potential of our team. Even if you don’t have all the skills, we want to help you get there if you’ve got the right attitude.

WHO IS THIS NOT FOR?

I want you to be happy and successful. That’s not going to happen if we’re not a good fit for you:

  • You’re not up for a challenge. If you’re not excited by difficult problems and work is at the bottom of your priorities, being an early hire at a startup is probably not the right move.
  • You need a traditional/corporate environment and structure.
  • You’re not excited about helping small businesses. The nice thing about Threadlet is you work with small and large businesses everyday to help them succeed. You’ll have way more fun if you’re passionate about helping small businesses across Australia.

If the above makes you even more excited, great! If it’s not a fit, that’s cool too. We’re not looking for someone who ticks all the boxes, we want someone who loves to learn and learn fast. So we’d love to hear from you!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work closely with our Co-founder and CTO to work on the existing product as well as exciting new products in the pipeline.
  • Be across front-end (React/NextJS) and back-end (Python/Flask, PostgreSQL). Depending on your experience you will own your own projects as a lead or work with a small team.
  • Work alongside Machine Learning Engineers to integrate model inference into the product.
  • Build features to help businesses understand and optimise their energy costs and emissions.
  • Help us internationalise the codebase as we expand overseas.
  • Work with Git/Github, Jira, Docker, and other tools to write test driven, high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Develop the skills and experience to transition to a lead/head engineer role as we grow.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Someone who cares about making people’s lives better with more sustainable, cheaper energy.
  • Someone with demonstrable experience in Python, SQL, and React projects.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (not required if you have a good portfolio).
  • An understanding of Database design.
  • Self-starter and has an ownership mentality - always striving for continuous improvement. When you see an opportunity, you jump on it and take ownership of the outcome.
  • Extremely persistent; if you’re someone who won’t give up a problem until you have found a solution, this is a great environment to exercise your determination.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills; the ability to manage complex projects and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident working in a high-autonomy, fast-paced environment where you'll be responsible for decisions that influence the direction of the company.

Thank you for reading! We're excited to work with you.
