What we do:

The Australian Federal Police Association (AFPA) represents the professional, industrial, and welfare interests of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) employees. As an autonomous sub-branch of the Police Federation of Australia (PFA), the AFPA is a registered Trade Union operating under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009. The AFPA head office is located in Canberra ACT.

The AFPA is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Industrial Officer for a full-time position based in Canberra for an initial 12-month period, with the possibility of permanency. The position will complement our established and supportive Legal and Industrial team.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Preferred minimum one-year industry experience in an Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Workplace Health and Safety role, and/or Law.
  • A passion for advocacy and union values, as well as skills in case work, representation, problem solving, and research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent personal organisation and ability to prioritise.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, and to develop professional relationships.
