Noffs is looking for an Adolescent & Family Counsellor to provide drug and alcohol counselling and case management to young people aged 12-25 who are experiencing issues such as substance use and mental health.

Responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:

  • Conducting and interpreting assessments
  • Formulating clinical and case work treatment plans in collaboration with each young person
  • Demonstrated ability to provide substance use and/or mental health interventions
  • Deliver early intervention, prevention and harm minimisation strategies
  • Facilitating planned and impromptu group sessions, as well as conducting groups and presentations for clients and external services/agencies
  • Liaising effectively with referrers, service providers, key stakeholders and/or family and carers to ensure the best service for our young people
  • Maintaining accurate client records, statistics and reports in a timely manner

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Recognised and appropriate tertiary qualifications in psychology, counselling or equivalent discipline
  • Clinical experience working with young people with a range of problems including substance abuse, mental health concerns, early life trauma and associated issues
  • Experience in conducting clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering appropriate clinical interventions
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience in providing effective compassionate individual counselling, as well as brief family interventions
  • Ability to facilitate groups, workshops & presentations for clients, other external services/agencies & client groups
  • Strong personal and interpersonal boundaries
  • Good oral and written communication of clinical information and reports
  • Work effectively as a team member and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to the principles of harm minimisation and to the aims of the Ted Noffs Foundation
  • Successful candidates MUST have a current and valid ACT Working With Vulnerable People Card prior to commencing employment
  • Current Driver Licence and a good driving record
