ABOUT TOWNSVILLE COMMUNITY LAW
Townsville Community Law Inc is a non-profit, community-based organisation dedicated to providing free legal services to the community in North Queensland. Its objectives are:
- To provide a free and accessible legal service.
- To seek legal and social change.
- To address inequalities in law and society.
- To promote legal education.
- To provide crisis counselling and support and/or referral to appropriate agencies.
- To create an area in which the social welfare aspects of clients’ lives are recognised.
- To encourage community participation in the delivery of the legal services it provides.
THE ROLE
This is a full-time (35 hours/week) role as a solicitor.
The successful applicant will provide legal assistance services across several areas of law including coronial inquests, social security, human rights, elder abuse and financial exploitation, veterans’ entitlements and other issues affecting veterans transitioning to civilian life, family law, domestic and family violence, consumer protection, insurance, and general civil law.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
- Classified between Levels 5 and 6 of the Social Community Health and Disability Services Award 2010.
- Above-Award wages of $111,000 - $139,000 per annum apply + superannuation + above Award entitlements.
- The pay level/pay point classification and pay rate are broad-banded depending on experience.

- Full-time staff members work a 35-hour week.
- Five weeks of annual leave, plus additional paid leave over the Christmas closure period.
