About the role

Our Pathways to Safety and Support provides effective intervention for children, young people and their families, with problematic and harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) by linking them with targeted and coordinated supports.

Using cultural knowledge and lived experience work collaboratively to support team members to understand how to provide culturally appropriate and safe support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in all aspects of practice and service delivery, through individual case consultation, group supervision activities and information sharing

Duties   

As a Child & Family Practitioner you will:

• Provide tailored cultural safety and advocacy to children, young people, and families regarding problematic and harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB), using a strength-based, person-centred approach.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop, implement, and review safety and support plans that address both strengths and areas of risk using or applying a cultural safe lens.
• Coordinate a culturally safe pathway in wrap-around support by working closely with government departments, schools, health services, and community agencies to raise awareness and deliver integrated services.
• Aid with culturally appropriate education and awareness through the planning and delivery of group sessions, workshops, and information sessions for clients and sector professionals.
• Identify and respond to risks, including escalating concerns and making child protection reports where necessary.

Skills and Requirements  

As well as having recognition from Community as a culturally safe person, as a Case Manager within our Pathways Team, you will have:  

• Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Culturally competence and experienced working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and other diverse groups.
• Strong understanding of problematic and harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) in children and young people, including associated risks and vulnerabilities.
• Demonstrated experience supporting children, young people, and families, particularly in child protection or similar settings.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and case planning skills, with a strength-based and trauma-informed approach.
• Current driver’s license.
