Our Rural Family Mental Health Support Service provides early intervention support to young people who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental illness, to improve their wellbeing enabling them to better participate in their communities and reach their full potential.

Your new role:

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will work with young people to develop healthy coping mechanisms through strength based approaches, instill emotional strategies to manage behaviour and make suitable referrals.

You will promote a culture where each young person’s point of view and preferences for recovery are recognised, respected and understood. An important part of this is building bridges between the young person and their community including school, medical services and psychological services.

You may also co-facilitate group work for example Tune into Teams, iRespect (male DV group), Loves Bites, Drum Beat, Rock and Water, Deadly Thinking etc.

Terms: Maximum term full-time role based in Parkes

What you need to succeed?

As an experienced Mental Health Practitioner, Case Manager, Social Worker or Psychologist you will have

• Understanding of complex trauma and its impact on child development & wellbeing
• Holistic person centred, strengths based approach to achieve lasting change
• Capacity to work autonomously in a rural and remote team; juggle competing demands, your time and problem solve on the fly
• Capacity to engage with people from all walks of life including the local Aboriginal community
• A relevant tertiary (degree) qualification and current driver’s license
