The Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) have been walking for over 30 years, offering amazing wilderness experiences to our guests in some of Tasmania's most special and remote wilderness locations. We work to deliver a truly immersive experience as we create connections between people and place in remote cultural landscapes through our boutique multi-day walking experiences.

Whilst our roots lie in Tassie, we operate on mainland Australia as The Australian Walking Company (AWC) and are excited to be experiencing a growth phase in the business as we introduce a number of new walks.

Our walks require grounded and​ passionate guides to share your love of the natural Australian wilderness to our guests, while also providing them with a welcoming personality and keen attitude as you accompany them on their expedition.

About You

TWC/AWC Guides provide an outstanding experience that guests will remember for a lifetime – the walks we offer are an opportunity for guests to step out of everyday life and into wilderness areas that are one of a kind. As a TWC/AWC Guide, it is your job to keep guests safe, happy, and healthy whilst on these walks, as well as showing care for the wild land and seascapes you lead your guests through.

The ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Relevant bush walking experience and a good knowledge of the National Parks the walk is situated in.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and ability to provide interpretation about the area, the flora, fauna, and history to guests.
  • Well-developed customer service, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Hospitality experience; cooking, food preparation, presentation, and service.
  • Current Wilderness First Aid (SISSS00126)
  • Current Provide CPR (HLTAID009)
  • Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB021)
  • Use hygiene practices for food safety, or equivalent (SITXFSA005)
  • Please note that: Manual Licence; Light Rigid Class Drivers Licence; Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) and Commercial Passenger Vehicle (CPV) will apply to some walks.

  1. Complete all the pre-screening questions and your preferred TWC walk to Guide for (please note, there is no guarantee you will be allocated your first choice of walk).
  2. Upload a copy of your current resume.
  3. We encourage you to submit a short video clip (60 seconds max) highlighting your motivations, relevant experience, skills & knowledge. We recommend uploading this video to YouTube (it can be set as an 'Unlisted’ video so only people with the link can watch) or via Google Drive or Dropbox. Once you're done, please include the link to your video in our screening questions.
  4. Upload evidence of your qualifications listed above. If you do not have the above qualifications, you will need to be committed to attaining these should you be offered a Guiding position.

Successful candidates must be available for training 2 weeks before the start of the first walk.
