Sydney Dogs & Cats Home is looking for an enthusiastic and organised Volunteer Co-ordinator to lead and grow our volunteer program during one of the most exciting periods in our history - the transition into our brand-new shelter facility at Kurnell.

This is an incredible opportunity to join a highly respected animal welfare organisation and play a key role in supporting the volunteers who help make our lifesaving work possible every day.

About the Role

As Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, engagement and support of volunteers across all areas of the organisation including Animal Care, Customer Care, Transport, Events, Maintenance and Community Programs.

You will also coordinate initiatives including:

  • Corporate volunteering programs
  • Student placements and internships
  • Community service programs
  • School and aged care engagement initiatives
  • Volunteer recognition and engagement activities

This is a hands-on, people-focused role that requires excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills. No two days are the same!

Sydney Dogs & Cats Home has been caring for lost, abandoned and neglected animals since 1946. We are passionate about best practice animal welfare, community engagement, and creating positive outcomes for animals and the people who love them.

As we prepare to move into our new purpose-built shelter in Kurnell, we are focused on building an engaged, supportive and values-driven team culture where both staff and volunteers can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience coordinating volunteers or managing people
  • Is highly organised and confident managing schedules and administration
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is proactive, positive and solutions focused
  • Is confident using systems including Microsoft Office and CRM databases
  • Has a passion for animal welfare and community engagement
  • Holds a current driver’s licence

Full time position: 76 hours per 9-day fortnight (weekend work required)

Animal care experience or qualifications will be highly regarded.

Location: Now, Austral and Strathfield - from September Kurnell.
