As a Disability Employment Services (DES) Coach, you will actively engage with participants to identify the skills and potential barriers to employment of each individual, and work with them to achieve their tailored employment goals. SYC delivers employment services at over 50 locations throughout Australia, however, for this role, you will be based at our Blacktown site.

In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and result driven team who are dedicated to our vision of well-being, independence, and opportunity for everyone. Day- to-day activities will include:

  • Working collaboratively and professionally with colleagues to welcome and engage individuals phoning or visiting the site.
  • Providing one-to-one coaching sessions to participants, assessing their career needs and facilitating participant development tailored to overcome their barriers to employment.
  • Promoting SYC DES program directly to school leavers, families, employers, and other key stakeholders for direct registration and employment opportunities.
  • Ensuring SYC DES is represented at local Career / Job Expos, Business forums and other events to build profile and awareness of SYC DES that result in training and employment opportunities.
  • Using sales strategies to work collaboratively and network with community organisations to create opportunities for participants.
  • Ensuring timely referral to employment opportunities, vocational training, employment activities and non-vocational programs.
  • Providing thorough Post Placement Support to employers and participants.

About You

As someone who enjoys working autonomously within a broader team environment, you will be passionate about career coaching and a desire to empower others to achieve their professional goals. You will be outcomes focused and enjoy the challenge of meeting targets and deadlines. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in customer service, client facing or an administrative role.
  • Excellent communication skills with well-developed verbal, and written skills, and the ability to prepare and conduct effective presentations.
  • Self-motivation and initiative, with well-developed organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and attend to multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills along with the ability to identify innovative and lateral solutions to problems
  • Previous experience in Disability Employment Services Industry is desirable
  • Ability to develop relationships with employers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service experience

For this role, you will need to:

  • Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Have a current and valid driver's licence and your own registered vehicle with a 4 or 5 star ANCAP safety rating
  • Be eligible to work in Australia
