About the Job

Our vision for Vocational Education is to be the best provider of vocational education in Australia, known for our industry and community connections, and excellence in student focused learning. To assist in achieving this vision, we are seeking a VE teacher in Mental Health to join Swinburne’s Vocational Education team.

Our VE teachers inspire, engage and educate our students for the 21st century, through implementing industry best practice and applying current learning technologies and contemporary learning pedagogies.

You will work collaboratively within a team of education professionals to plan deliver, assess, evaluate and ensure compliance of high-quality education and training programs. This role requires our teachers to be able to customise and adapt our programs to meet our learners and clients’ needs that vary from certificate level through to diploma and associate degree levels.

About you

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Vocational experience in the community Mental Health sector is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality innovative teaching and learning programs in a variety of learning modes which respond to a diverse range of student learning needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, customised and safe learning environment and provide support and advice to a diverse range of students and industry clients.
  • Demonstrated experience or the capacity to develop and conduct training programs directed to the needs of industry and the community.
  • Demonstrated experience or the capacity to develop learning and assessment resources.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Vocational Education and Training policies and frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)OR
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)

OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including the following units:
  • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or its successor,

OR

  • TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills AND
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools or its successor

OR

  • TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools

OR

  • TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools

OR

  • Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education
  • Degree in Counselling or Psychology or related discipline (preferred)

OR

  • Vocational qualification (Cert IV level or above) in Mental Health (preferred)

About Swinburne Vocational Education

Swinburne’s Vocational Education has five departments which offer vocational programs at post-graduate, advanced diploma, diploma, certificate and basic vocational levels.
