Applications are invited for an advanced psychiatry registrar with a specific interest in working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) consumers and carers as well as in the psychology of trauma. This is an accredited training position jointly held by Victorian Transcultural Mental Health and The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture and supported by St Vincent's Mental Health, funded under the Federal Government's Specialist Training Program.
This position involves assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health issues affecting the CALD community at Foundation House. The registrar will be expected to provide psychological interventions for presentations related to trauma (under supervision) as well as general psychiatric care in an outpatient setting at Foundation House. The registrar will also assist with educational, service development, and consultation services offered by VTMH.
In addition to clinical supervision from on-site consultant psychiatrists and joining a multidisciplinary cross-cultural health team, the position is supported by an extensive academic and educational program offered by St Vincent's Mental Health.
There is an expectation that the successful applicant contribute to the on-call roster at St Vincent's Mental Health.
