About the Role

Under the direction of the Manager Community Mental Health and Partnerships and the Director of Clinical Services, lead and coordinate the mental health state-wide capacity building unit (multi-disciplinary team) to keep relevant, coordinated and high quality services that aim to improve cultural responsiveness with in the mental health system, and generate sustainable and systemic change.

Classification for this role will be YC92 ($92,856 per annum) with an additional over award.

Duties

  • Ensure relationships with key National entities, stakeholders and government representatives are identified, developed and maintained.
  • Lead the VTMH reference group as a cross-sectoral platform that maintains dialogue on VTMH activities, as well as broader policy and strategic directions, with a view to coordinating input into recommendations to Government departments or other relevant entities.
  • Identify needs and enablers of the mental health service system in relation to people with diverse background and cultures.
  • Lead and coordinate VTMH service delivery and ensure VTMH engages in service development activities to improve the response to diverse individuals, families and communities across Victoria.
  • Provide line management supervision/coaching to VTMH team members.
  • Ensure procedures are in place for VTMH staff that support collaborative relationships with agencies and stakeholders.
  • Ensure systems are in place to enable feedback from agencies, consumers and carers to be communicated and acted upon, including the management of complaints.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in a mental health discipline and Post - graduate qualifications.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in management or health administration or progress toward such qualifications is desirable.
  • Registration with APHRA or AASW whichever relevant is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in the delivery of mental health and transcultural services.
  • A comprehensive understanding of systemic barriers that consumers, cares and communities experience when accessing the mental health system.
  • A comprehensive understanding of issues associated with transcultural psychiatry.
  • Extensive experience in service development and proven ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders to develop a partnership program.
