Passages Youth Engagement Hubs (PYEH) provide support to young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness at both our Perth and Mandurah facilities. The Hubs provide support through essential needs advocacy, information, referrals, workshops, a range of visiting specialist services and the capacity to provide follow up. Our dedicated staff work closely with young people using principles of empowerment to pursue their goals, interests and rights, and having confidence in their capacity to make decisions about their own future.

About the Role

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people and is committed to making a positive difference in the life of others. Our hubs are often the first step off the street for young people with complex needs – we work to build relationships with young people by offering practical assistance and support, whilst identifying longer term needs and issues.

  • Permanent Full-time
  • 76 hours per fortnight (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm) 
  • Work out of our hub in Perth, occasional work at our PYEH Peel service may be required.
  • Create a safe place for young people to access resources and individually tailored support.
  • Provide strengths-based, trauma-informed and therapeutic crisis intervention support to young people.
  • Actively promote the philosophy of continuous improvement and participates in the continuous improvement Program.
  • Work with young people using a strengths-based approach grounded in the Youth Work Code of Ethics.

About You:

To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Previous experience working with young people experiencing and/or at-risk of homelessness.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or extensive relevant experience complemented by quality in-service training.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in trauma informed, therapeutic crisis intervention and low-threshold / change models of practice.
  • Knowledge of the Youth Work Code of Ethics and capacity to translate this into work practices on a day to day basis.
  • Knowledge of and an ability to access a range of relevant community resources, particularly in the youth and homeless sectors (desirable).
  • Valid WWC Card

  • Senior First Aid (current)
