Surf Life Saving has been part of Tasmania’s cultural fabric for the past 100 years.

It represents the lifestyle, values and beliefs of the Australian community.

As a movement we are focused on creating a safe environment in and around our beaches and waterways, delivering essential education, and training programs and providing emergency rescue services.

Today, Surf Life Saving Tasmania (SLST) comprises of a State Office, 15 Surf Life Saving Clubs, 7 Marine Rescue Units and 3 Support Services located around the coastline, with over 3,000 members who are all committed to saving lives and positively impacting on their local communities.

About the role

Governed by a dedicated Board of Directors, SLST is seeking to directly appoint a new Board member to strengthen the team.

The Board is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in contributing to the next phase of SLST’s journey and supporting the Tasmanian community.

  • Previous Board experience and Tasmanian residency would be viewed favourably.
  • Directors are appointed for up to a three-year term.
  • The position is voluntary and whilst there is no remuneration for our Board of Directors, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
  • Meetings are held outside business hours, once every two months, and generally last for 2-3 hours.
