What's the role about?

We are looking for an organised and motivated leader to join our organisation and to lead the growth of our Supported Employment function within Unisson Works.This role will conduct business with the intent of providing employment to people with disability and completing work for valued customers. Equally important is the quality and commercial aspect of the work performed, and the support to people with primarily an intellectual disability as they develop new skills and a real sense of purpose through employment.

This role will lead and grow Unisson Works and bring a strategic focus to assure and improve commercial viability, branding, and reputation for quality work and support people with disability in line with Unisson's values and strategic goals.

This role will focus on shaping the growth and development of Unisson Works, and to respond to changes in client and market demand, with excellence and sustainability while ensuring ongoing viability and success. You will require a strong background working in a similar role and be able to add value with your exceptional leadership skills, innovative thinking and collaborative approach to managing teams.

Some role specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop Unisson Works strategic plans in consultation with the GM - Corporate Services to achieve organisational and financial objectives.
  • Provide day to day operational management and leadership for Unisson Works.
  • Secure new business opportunities to expand Unisson Works through tenders and commercial contracts.
  • Research and respond to the needs of the new disability market including identification and monitoring of competitors.
  • Drive sustainable growth that enables Unisson Works to increase its positive impact for employees, clients, and the broader community.
  • Build and maintain an awareness of the local communities that Unisson Works operates in.
  • Grow the commercial customer base⦁ Ensure work performance, practice and the delivery of service is consistent with the NDIS guidelines and legislation, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion through collaboration and integration across the organisation.
  • Ensure robust systems and business processes are in place and followed, to increase operational quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Develop business processes that meet the NDIS Practice Standards for disability organisations and Unisson's policies and procedures.
  • Develop operational plans and forecasts considering all variables and impacts such as seasonality and including setting and maintaining KPIs.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of operations including quotes, tendering, contract negotiation, budget management, and reporting of Unisson Works.
  • Monitor Profit & Loss and work with the General Manager - Corporate Services to move the business toward greater profitability.
  • Take responsibility and accountability to operate Unisson Works at a surplus.

Ideal Candidate (Key Criteria):

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification in related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in relevant field (Social Enterprise, Australian Disability Enterprise - ADE)
  • Preferred - Experience in the disability sector.
  • Financial Management Skills and sound business acumen (i.e. networking skills)
  • Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding planning and organising skills demonstrating initiative when working without direct supervision
  • Emotional intelligence, resilience, and capacity to perform the work required.
  • An understanding of an adherence to working within personal and professional boundaries in a multicultural environment.
  • Commitment to the values, vision and mission of the organisation including leadership and implementation
