Organisational Overview 

The Sunshine/St. Albans Rental Housing Co-operative (SUNRHC) is an incorporated co-operative and a registered Housing Provider that has been operating for 35 years. The co-operative manages 35 properties in the Sunshine/St. Albans area under a General Lease with the Department of Health and Human Services. The co-operative provides affordable, long term, secure housing for tenant members.

SUNRHC is currently seeking an experienced Manager to oversee all day to day operations, strategic and business aspects of the organisation. 

The Manager will report to and work with the Board of Directors and will be responsible for:

  • The effective and efficient operation of SUNRHC in keeping with the rules, policies and guidelines that govern the organisation
  • Provision of tenancy and asset management
  • Preparation of all reports (including financial)
  • Contribution to and implementation of SUNRHC strategic and business plans
  • Ensuring the Co-operative meets all regulatory and legal compliance requirements
  • Development of strategic plans for future growth

  • A commitment to social justice and community development and an ability to relate with sensitivity to people who may have complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Commitment to maintaining principles of privacy and confidentiality
  • Good computer and word processing skills
  • Ability to manage and maintain various databases
  • Understanding of the legislative framework associated with tenancy management of community housing rental properties
  • An understanding of and sensitivity to the issues around housing affordability
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess risk associated with the provision of services in the sector
  • Good knowledge of property maintenance including identification of works required and costings 

Desirable

  • Formal qualifications are not essential, although previous experience in the community housing sector is an advantage
  • Working knowledge of relevant government and community housing programs and legislation, policies and issues
  • Understanding of the Victorian Residential Tenancies Act
  • Working knowledge of Chintaro database computer program 

Additional Requirements

  • National police check
  • Working with children check (Victoria)
  • Drivers Licence (Victoria) and own vehicle
