Suicide Prevention Australia, the national peak body for suicide prevention, is looking for a talented self-starter to join our small policy and government relations team. Reporting to the Director, you will serve as a second ‘point person’.

Your responsibilities will involve:

  • Supporting the Director, Policy & Government Relations to creatively identify new opportunities for thought leadership and influence on future policy thinking
  • Researching and writing submissions, reports, briefs and other policy outputs
  • Building a strong network of stakeholders from across our membership, government, not for profit and industry sectors
  • Proactively staying across the government and policy landscape, and briefing the Director and Chief Executive Officer on developments

This role would suit you if you have:

  • 5+ years of policy and/or government relations experience in a member-based organisation, not for profit organisation, government department or political office
  • Excellent written communication and verbal skills, with the ability to confidently communicate with a variety of audiences
  • Good understanding of the machinery of government and how to navigate it
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to engage with different audiences on complex policy issues
  • Solid research skills, including the ability to perform robust desktop reviews, analyse and draw insights from data

Salary $100,000-$110,000 plus superannuation, dependant on experience. Generous salary packaging benefits available.
