The (ABMDR) is a not-for-profit registry of volunteers who are willing to donate blood stem cells for people with life-threatening illness such as leukaemia. ABMDR is part of a global network that manages the information and processes that match potential donors with patients in need. We’re proudly in the business of saving lives.

As a Donor Support Coordinator, you will be working with a professional and passionate team coordinating the processing of search requests for Australian donors by patient teams seeking matched unrelated bone marrow/blood stem cells donors for Australian and International patients. The purpose of this role is to coordinate and fulfil requests on Australian donors including extended typing, verification testing, workup, collection, and follow-up.

What would a typical day look like?

You might be:

  • Contacting donors to inform them they have been identified as a potential match for a patient in urgent need of a blood stem cell transplant
  • Contacting donors to perform an over-the-phone health screening and organise further testing
  • Coordinating a donation schedule with a specialised nurse at one of our accredited collection hospitals
  • Conducting post-donation donor follow-up
  • Respond to enquiries from potential and existing donors, internal and external stakeholders
  • Updating and maintaining donor records in our donor management and registry systems

You will have:

  • Excellent communication skills with a high level of interpersonal, and relationship management skills and a proven capacity to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills to efficiently manage caseloads and prioritise tasks.
  • Previous experience in office administration, providing high-level customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to plan and operate with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to the management of data
  • Able to develop expertise in ABMDR’s operations, to effectively communicate these to ABMDR customers.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office
