Aboriginal Practice Cultural Lead

St Bart's

At St Bart's, we're committed to delivering services that are culturally safe, respectful and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We're looking for an Aboriginal Cultural Practice Lead to provide cultural leadership across our organisation and help strengthen the way we work alongside Aboriginal people and communities.

This is an opportunity to influence meaningful change. You'll work collaboratively across the organisation to embed culturally safe, trauma-informed and healing-centred practice, while helping our people build confidence, capability and understanding in their work with Aboriginal clients and communities.

Working closely with leaders, staff, Elders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and community partners, you'll help ensure Aboriginal voices, cultural knowledge and lived experience are reflected in the way we design, deliver and continuously improve our services.

We are open to full time and part time applications.

About the role

As our Aboriginal Cultural Practice Lead, you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational cultural leadership across the organisation.
  • Champion culturally safe, trauma-informed and healing-centred approaches to service delivery.
  • Support leaders and teams to strengthen cultural capability through mentoring, coaching, education and reflective practice.
  • Provide cultural supervision and advice to staff working with Aboriginal clients and communities.
  • Contribute to service design, policy development and continuous improvement through a cultural lens.
  • Build and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with Elders, ACCOs, Aboriginal organisations and community stakeholders.
  • Promote culturally responsive practice that strengthens connection to culture, family, Country and community.

About you

  • Experience providing cultural leadership, guidance or practice support.
  • A strong understanding of culturally safe and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience working within homelessness, housing, mental health, community services or a related sector.
  • The ability to facilitate learning, mentor others and build cultural capability across diverse teams.
  • Well-developed relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with community and organisational stakeholders.
  • An understanding of cultural governance, self-determination and contemporary Aboriginal policy and practice frameworks.
  • For this role under section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA). Only applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people will be considered.

What’s in it for you?

  • Pay: Competitive salary, plus NFP salary packaging giving you the potential to gain $15,900 in tax benefits
  • Leave: 23 days annual leave, that’s 3 days more than the standard 4 weeks
  • Perks: Lots of social activities, expand your experience by joining a consultation committee, and see the impact of our work every day
  • Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We are also open to applicants who are looking for part time opportunities
