About THE ROLE

Program Mentors play a vital role in supporting improved educational outcomes for girls and young women in the Stars Program. Working as part of a passionate and collaborative team, you will help create a safe, empowering and culturally strong environment where Aboriginal girls can thrive.

We are seeking an energetic and experienced individual, with a background or strong interest in Aboriginal education, to join the Stars Foundation team at Chaffey College. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of First Nations students, their families and communities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with Aboriginal girls
  • A genuine commitment to working respectfully within a culturally diverse workforce
  • Passion, energy and respect in your approach to work
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Experience in an educational and/or community development setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety legislation

The following are required (or willingness to obtain):

  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance (issued within the last 3 months)
  • A water-based qualification, such as a Bronze Medallion or Community Surf Rescue Certificate
