Stars Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation providing school-based engagement programs for over 3,000 First Nations girls and young women across 50+ schools in Australia.

Stars delivers a holistic, strengths-based program that supports wellbeing, cultural identity, confidence and life skills. At the heart of the program is the Stars Room, a culturally safe, welcoming space where students feel supported, nurtured and inspired to thrive.

About the Role

The Program Coordinator is responsible for leading and delivering the Stars program in Adelaide, ensuring it delivers meaningful outcomes for students.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining program delivery with team and people management. You will work closely with Program Mentors to design and deliver engaging activities that build students’ self-esteem, confidence and life skills, while also providing strong guidance, supervision and support to staff.

Working within the mission, values and policies of Stars Foundation, the Program Coordinator is accountable for:

  • Program quality, outcomes and reporting
  • Leadership and development of the local Stars team
  • Building strong relationships with schools, communities and stakeholders
  • Creating a safe, culturally responsive and empowering environment for students

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with a strong understanding of Aboriginal people and culture
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands within limited timeframes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound computer skills
  • Demonstrated skills in implementing policies and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation
  • Able to embrace a culturally diverse workforce
  • Innovative and thinks adaptively about problem resolution
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement

About You

You are a values-driven leader with a genuine passion for supporting First Nations girls and young women. You bring experience in youth engagement, education, community services or a related field, and are confident balancing people leadership with program accountability.

Collaborative, organised and culturally respectful, you have the ability to inspire both students and staff to achieve positive outcomes while fostering a safe, supportive and empowering environment.

Desirable attributes include:

  • Experience coordinating programs in an educational or community development context
  • Demonstrated skills in team leadership and staff supervision
  • A water-based qualification, such as a Bronze Medallion or Community Surf Rescue Certificate
