About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to work with a highly respected and effective industry leader in a rare and exciting opportunity at Starlight. We are now in a position to appoint a positive and motivated Program Manager to own the day to day management of the 'Captain Starlight' and 'Livewire' programs at the Royal Children's Hospital. This role requires the candidate to be immediately available and is a 4-month, full-time contract starting beginning of April.

The team is a highly talented, creative and diverse group and managing and developing their skills is one of the most rewarding aspects of this role. Equally important is managing external stakeholder relationships such as hospital relationships, suppliers, other Not-For-Profit organisations, families and visitors to the Starlight Express Room.

This pivotal role is based in the Royal Children's Hospital and requires a collaborative leader to run the day to day operations of the successful programs. Starlight programs are delivered 7 days per week so you will need to be flexible in your working hours to provide support to the teams across all aspects of program delivery.

A general day consists of managing the administrative requirements of the role, people management of the team, attending national teleconferences and meetings and managing events that occur in the Starlight Express Room. No two days are the same so if you are outstanding with your time management, prioritising and dealing with change this role is going to give you level of satisfaction that is rare.

About You

  • Strong leadership and large team management experience
  • Be an exceptional relationship manager, adept at developing new relationships and managing and deepening existing ones
  • Outstanding influencing skills with a creative team, peers and national internal/ external partners
  • Proven ability to drive initiatives, successfully implement and deliver outcomes against plans
  • Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvement and manage risk
  • Strong operational management skills e.g. business planning, budgeting, reporting, achieving service standards and managing performance
  • Management of program budget, including paid team member hours
  • Effective collaborations with hospitals, other partners (e.g. NFPs) and the Starlight team
  • Bachelors degree or qualification in a relevant field (e.g Health or Social Services, Business Management, Education, Arts)
