Springvale Neighbourhood House is a not-for-profit association which is run by and for the local community. The House’s mission is “To continually empower the members of our evolving & diverse community to address their needs and to fully participate in Australian society while celebrating and preserving their culture”.
The House is a registered training organisation providing English language and computer classes for over 400 students each year. The House is also a registered Learn Local delivering Adult Community and Further Education courses to over 180 students each year.
The House operates from a community development philosophy and works with the community to provide relevant programs and activities based on local need. We are seeking a qualified, and experienced EAL tutor to provide quality adult education training, workshops, activities, assessments and associated administrative requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework within Springvale Neighbourhood House.
Part-time tutor teaching combined beginner and Cert I EAL course to asylum seekers and other people with low English language proficiency. To provide quality adult education training, workshops, activities, assessments and associated administrative requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework within Springvale Neighbourhood House.
Qualifications:
Specialist teacher qualifications are required due to the specialised breadth and depth of knowledge needed to assess English as a second language as specified in the unit assessment conditions (Assessor requirements).
Trainers & Assessors must be trained teachers with the following teaching & assessment qualifications:
Tutors are required to keep their qualifications up-to-date and compliant with changes to the trainer and assessor qualifications required to deliver the accredited course they are contracted to deliver.
We offer flexible work conditions (casual and part-time), ability to take-on new courses and our workplace agreement gives EAL tutors 50% loading to cover out-of-classroom administration.
The current position is open for almost immediate start, however we are starting new courses in the coming months and always looking for accredited EAL tutors for both ongoing and also ET positions.
