Speak Out is a state-wide advocacy organisation that works together with people with disability about rights. We want an energetic, keen Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person to join our dynamic team. The position is based in Burnie, NW Tasmania.
You will mostly work with individual advocacy clients, the Speak Out Disability Royal Commission team, and walk alongside communities.
The position is classified as Social and Community Service Employee under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. Pay level 4 or 5 depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is fixed term till 1 July 2022 with a 6-month probationary period.
We would like you to work with us full-time.
Individual advocacy is issues-based. The Disability Advocate provides information, options and referral so each client can make informed decisions about what they want to do. The Disability Advocate is directed by the client and works to get the outcome the client wants through an Advocacy Agreement. This part of the role is working with Indigenous people and non-Indigenous people.
