The Adelaide Primary Health Network has recently announced funding for a full time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth Peer Support Worker to be based at headspace Edinburgh North.
This funding is part of the ‘Enhancing headspace Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth Project’ which aims to improve mental health and wellbeing experiences and outcomes for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the Adelaide metropolitan region.
The project will improve the capacity of these headspace centres to deliver culturally appropriate, sensitive and safe primary mental health care services for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at risk of, or experiencing, mental health conditions.
headspace is a service that aims to improve the wellbeing of young people aged 12-25, by providing support in the areas of mental health and wellbeing, physical health, alcohol and other drugs, work and study.
