SNAICC – National Voice for Our Children is growing quickly and continues to expand its policy team as it takes on many exciting systemic advocacy and research projects that will improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

The Position:

The Manager, Domestic and Family Violence Prevention and Response will lead a small team to build SNAICC’s policy and research capacity in relation to domestic and family violence prevention and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children. This position will lead SNAICC’s involvement in the development of a standalone, national First Nations Family Safety Plan, including working with the First Nations Family Safety Steering Committee to shape and develop the plan.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander individual.
  • Is passionate about the rights, needs and safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children and is keen to make a difference at a national level.
  • Demonstrates capability to work effectively to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to progress policy outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Has previous experience in management in policy development, social research and/or advocacy.
  • Understands how to manage disclosures of family violence and ensure trauma-informed, culturally safe community engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Has strong writing skills, including developing reports, submissions and papers, and has demonstrated capacity to research, analyse, understand and write concisely about complex social policy issues.
  • Has strong experience in project management including the ability to work collaboratively with project stakeholders, develop and implement project work plans and meet deadlines.
  • Is a great analytical thinker, and a leader who can connect the dots and build a strong evidence base for policy and advocacy.
