The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.

We are seeking an experienced Tertiary Program Coordinator, Learning for Life to join our family. Reporting to the Team Leader, Tertiary Program and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will work with a dedicated and passionate team and contribute to The Smith Family’s vision of creating better futures for Australians in need. The work of Tertiary Coordinators is underpinned by The Smith Family’s Practice Framework to ensure students are being empowered to contribute to their own success.

About our role

You will be responsible for:

  • Direct support of up to approximately 160-200 participants involved in the Tertiary Scholarship. This support is related to the students’ transition to higher education and their ongoing attendance leading to course completion.
  • Support internal media and marketing teams to source students for speaking opportunities and career development events.
  • Administer the Tertiary Scholarship which supports the students on your allocations.
  • Proactively build knowledge of the Higher Education sector and the challenges facing students – particularly at key transition points.

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualification – preferably in the areas of education or social services
  • Experienced in effectively managing multi-priority environments
  • Effective communication skills (including the ability to lead discussions and work with the a range of local and national colleagues
  • Agile approach to change
  • A growth mindset
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Effective organisational and administrative skills (including computer literacy, data entry and time management)
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check
