This new position works alongside the team to help ensure there is a safe and welcoming environment for service users, volunteers and staff supporting safety, wellbeing and incident response. Our Homelessness team work collaboratively to provide a safe and supportive environment for service users, volunteers and staff. They actively engage in risk assessments and provide interim / short term case management and referrals specific to the individual need of our community who experience homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.

The Safety & Wellbeing Worker will play a key role to:

  • Assist in the provision of a safe and welcoming environment, by ensuring a presence across open door services during peak service delivery times.
  • Act as the primary internal security response during service opening hours in accordance with policies.
  • Assist the Homelessness team to implement crowd control mechanisms during daily meal and program services.
  • Provide backup to staff in the prevention and management of incidents: wherever possible without the use of physical force.
  • Assist the Homelessness team members in the management of rough sleepers.
  • Support redirection or de-escalation of service user/participant aggression and occupational violence.

The position is initially a 12-month fixed term position working 8am-3p.m with salary packaging.
