About the role

We're looking for a Product Owner to join us at SIX. As a crucial member of our team, you'll help bridge our CEO, engineering, and operations teams—contributing to product vision, maximising product value, and driving innovation across the platform.

This position involves working across both product strategy and product design. We're looking for someone with experience in either product strategy or product design, who's ready to work across both areas. You'll have the full support of our team—including the CEO, Senior Engineer, and Product Operations Manager—to help you succeed in areas where you're building expertise.

You'll work directly with the Founder CEO to help refine our product vision and collaborate with the team to bring ideas to life through both strategic thinking and design execution. Our Senior Engineer and Product Operations Manager are based in Melbourne, offering excellent opportunities for in-person collaboration if you're Melbourne-based. The role will suit someone who thrives in a cross-functional environment, is comfortable working on both strategic and design work with team support, and wants to make meaningful product impact.

More specifically, these are the kinds of things you will be responsible for:

Product Strategy

• Work with the CEO to help refine and evolve SIX's product vision
• Identify and prioritise high-impact opportunities to maximise product value
• Help bridge communication between CEO, engineering, and operations teams
• Contribute to strategic thinking about product development and growth
• Collaborate on roadmap planning and communicate product direction

Product Design & UX

• Create product designs for the SIX platform, from concept to final assets
• Drive product innovation through thoughtful design solutions
• Enhance user experience by understanding user needs and pain points
• Build design systems and reusable components for efficiency
• Maintain and evolve SIX's brand identity across product touchpoints
• Select and master design tooling to support efficient workflows

Collaborative Product Work

• Work with the team on prioritisation and planning in our agile environment
• Help identify opportunities for growth through UX improvements, engagement, and conversion
• Support release communication and team readiness
• Participate in product discussions and decision-making as a team
• Any other duties expected of a Product role. We're a small company, so we all pitch in!

Skills that are nice to have:

• Experience with financial services or share trading platforms
• Proficiency with Figma for product design and prototyping
• Experience with Webflow or similar website building tools
• Experience building and maintaining design systems
• Familiarity with product management tools (Confluence, Jira, Linear, etc.)
• Experience with customer engagement platforms (CustomerIO, Intercom, etc.)
• Understanding of user research methodologies and usability testing
• Front-end design knowledge (HTML/CSS fundamentals, responsive design principles)
• Experience with prototyping and user flow tools (Miro, FigJam, etc.)

You'll be a good fit for this role if you:

• Have strong experience in either product strategy/product management or product design, and are ready to work across both areas (the team will support you where you're building expertise)
• Bring an analytical mindset to product management, using data and insights to inform decisions and drive product growth
• Can think strategically about the product and translate high-level strategy into actionable roadmap initiatives
• Are a creative problem solver who finds innovative solutions to product challenges
• Are willing to take ownership of product development and management (with input and collaboration from the CEO, Senior Engineer, and Product Ops Manager)
• Can make quick, informed decisions to keep product development moving forward
• Enjoy cross-functional collaboration and helping bridge communication between teams
• Value user-centered design and creating great product experiences (whether you're leading design work or supporting it)
• Thrive in collaborative, agile environments where the team works together to deliver impact
• Are comfortable working in a small team where you'll wear multiple hats and contribute broadly
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced start-up with autonomy and the opportunity to learn
