Abound Communities (the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria) is one of Victoria’s oldest not-for-profit organisations. Founded in 1869, they provide safe, affordable and dignified homes and care for older Victorians across five sites, spanning independent living, assisted living, residential aged care and home care, guided by their vision to enrich the lives of people through independent community living and care.
Following a successful turnaround and now on a stable financial footing, our Board is renewing and strengthening its capability. They are seeking three new Non-Executive Directors to help steward the next phase of the ENABLE 2024–2027 Strategic Plan, including the transition to a Company Limited by Guarantee and significant aged care and retirement village reform.
We are particularly interested in candidates with depth in one or more of:
You will bring strong values alignment, sound judgement, and a readiness to contribute actively as the organisation continues to build momentum. Experience in aged care, retirement living, health, community services or housing is valued, as is strong governance experience in another mission-driven organisation. All candidates should bring strong governance knowledge and instincts, strategic capability, and genuine alignment with Abound's values and behaviours: Respect, Community, Kindness and Integrity.
These are voluntary roles; director remuneration is currently under review. Directors are appointed for a three-year term, to a maximum of nine years. For incoming directors, this is a genuine opportunity to help shape Abound Communities’ future guiding a stable, well-regarded organisation as it deepens its impact for older Victorians and strengthens its foundations for the long term.
