The Communication Access Team at Scope’s Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre (CIRC) are seeking a champion in supporting and driving projects in the area of communication access.

Scope’s purpose is to create meaningful opportunities for people with disability to belong and thrive. We support people with physical, intellectual and multiple disabilities and developmental delays to achieve their goals Scope is a registered provider under the NDIS and delivers a range of services including supported independent living, short term accommodation (respite), lifestyle options and therapy across 100 locations in Victoria.

What is Communication Access?

"Communication access occurs when people are respectful and responsive to individuals with communication difficulties, and when strategies and resources are used to support successful communication.” (Johnson, West, Solarsh, Wyllie & Morey, 2013, p.7).

Our purpose at Scope's Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre (CIRC) is to create more inclusive and accessible communities for people who experience a range of communication difficulties. We work with businesses to award Scope’s Communication Access Symbol ensuring the business provides goods and services to meet Communication Access Standards.

About The Role

Your role would be to work alongside our skilled team of Speech Pathologists and Communication Access Assessors who have a lived experience of communication disability, to manage and direct a range of individual organisations and business on their communication access journey.

This role is minimum part time (0.6) to full time. 

The role includes:

  • Overseeing and delivering multiple concurrent contracts and specific projects within agreed time lines, according to set deliverables and budget
  • Effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Fulfilling all administrative requirements such as data collection, record keeping and reporting on time
  • Representing Scope at forums, seminars and conferences
  • Develop and test a range of communication tools (AAC)
  • Conducting assessments in the community and delivery training to a range of businesses and organisations
  • Developing and/or contributing to quotes/invoices as appropriate
  • Effectively and independently manage all components of project management of concurrently running projects
  • Contribute to quality improvements within service delivery including development of business rules and processes

About You

  • You have excellent written and verbal/interpersonal communication skills demonstrated by the ability to interact and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • You have advanced computer literacy and information technology skills
  • You have formal training and/or experience in coordinating small and large projects within budget and according to project timelines

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must provide the following:

  • Current Driver’s License and your own vehicle
  • Satisfactory Working With Children's Check (Employee)
  • You are a practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
  • Proof of 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with Scope policy
  • Valid Australian Working Rights and an International Police Check if you have lived or worked overseas for more than one (1) year within the last ten years
